Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, mixed with 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the egg.
  3. Dip each chicken piece into the egg, then dredge in the flour mixture.
  4. Press the coated chicken into panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Place chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  6. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and cooked through.
  7. While chicken cooks, prepare the sauce. In a saucepan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  8. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  9. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  10. Toss the cooked chicken with the sauce.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
  • You can use chicken breast instead of thighs, but adjust cooking time as needed.
