Ingredients
Scale
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 large eggs
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir in the vanilla extract and eggs until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
In a small bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon.
In another small bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar and egg yolk until smooth.
Spread half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan.
Dollop spoonfuls of the pumpkin mixture and cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter.
Gently swirl the mixtures together using a knife or skewer.
Spread the remaining brownie batter over the swirled layers.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.
Notes
For a fudgier brownie, use only 3/4 cup of flour.
Add chocolate chips to the batter for an extra chocolatey kick.
Ensure your pumpkin puree is not pumpkin pie filling.
