Make the classic fast-food Crunchwrap Supreme at home using this step-by-step recipe that recreates the layered texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup nacho cheese sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 small flour tortillas (about 6 inches)
  • 4 small crunchy tostada shells
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Stir the taco seasoning mix and water into the cooked beef. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid reduces. Set aside.
  3. Warm the flour tortillas slightly so they are pliable. You can microwave them briefly or heat them in a dry skillet.
  4. Lay one warm flour tortilla flat on a clean surface.
  5. Spread about 2 tablespoons of the nacho cheese sauce in the center of the tortilla, leaving a border.
  6. Spoon about 1/4 of the seasoned beef mixture over the cheese.
  7. Place one crunchy tostada shell directly on top of the beef mixture.
  8. Spread about 1 tablespoon of sour cream over the tostada shell.
  9. Top the sour cream with about 1/4 cup of shredded lettuce and a spoonful of diced tomatoes.
  10. Sprinkle a small amount of cheddar cheese over the vegetables, if using.
  11. Fold the edges of the large flour tortilla up and over the center ingredients, pleating it as you go to form a sealed hexagonal shape.
  12. Place the assembled wrap seam-side down in a dry, large skillet over medium heat. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side until the tortilla is golden brown and sealed.
  13. Repeat the assembly and grilling process for the remaining three wraps.

Notes

  • For the best texture, use a medium-sized tostada shell that fits well inside the large tortilla.
  • If you prefer a richer flavor, use full-fat sour cream.
  • You can substitute the store-bought nacho cheese sauce with a homemade queso recipe for better flavor control.
