Ingredients
Scale
4 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 slices of bread (brioche or challah recommended)
2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)
For the cinnamon-sugar coating:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Arrange the bread slices in a single layer in the egg mixture, letting them soak for about 30 seconds per side.
Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Carefully place 3-4 soaked bread slices into the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove the cooked French toast from the skillet and place on a plate. Repeat with the remaining bread slices, adding more butter as needed.
While the French toast is cooking, prepare the cinnamon-sugar coating by combining 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl.
Once the French toast is cooked, cut each slice into 3-4 sticks.
Immediately toss the warm French toast sticks in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread.
Adjust the cinnamon and sugar to your preference.
Serve with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.
