A simple recipe for tender chicken breasts coated in a sweet and smoky homemade Honey BBQ glaze, baked until done.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, honey, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to create the sauce.
  3. Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Brush half of the BBQ sauce mixture evenly over the tops of the chicken breasts.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove the dish from the oven and brush the remaining sauce over the chicken.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can marinate the chicken in half the sauce for 30 minutes before baking.
  • If you prefer thicker glaze, simmer the sauce mixture on the stovetop for 5 minutes until slightly reduced before brushing on the chicken.
  • This recipe works well with chicken thighs; increase the baking time by 5 to 10 minutes.
