Ingredients
Scale
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 ¼ cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
Orange food coloring
Black food coloring
Chocolate chips or edible marker for decoration
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix until smooth.
Divide the batter into two bowls.
Add a few drops of orange food coloring to one bowl and mix until you achieve a pumpkin color.
Add a few drops of black food coloring to the other bowl to make green (for the stem) or keep it plain.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat.
Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using about ¼ cup for each pancake.
For the Jack-O-Lantern face, use a spoon to add small dots of black batter for eyes and a nose on the orange pancake. Then, use a bit of orange batter to draw a mouth or use chocolate chips.
For the stem, pour a small amount of the green batter in a stem shape at the top of the orange pancake.
Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancake. Flip and cook until golden brown.
Repeat with the remaining batter.
Notes
Adjust food coloring amounts for desired shades.
Chocolate chips can be added to the batter before cooking for a sweeter pancake.
Edible markers can also be used to draw faces on the cooked pancakes.
