Make rich, fudgy protein balls that taste like brownie batter without turning on your oven. These are quick to prepare and great for meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup oat flour (or ground rolled oats)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate protein powder (whey or casein works best for texture)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup nut butter (almond or peanut)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the oat flour, protein powder, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  2. Add the nut butter, maple syrup (or honey), and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
  3. Mix the wet and dry ingredients together using a sturdy spoon or your hands.
  4. Gradually add the almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until a thick, uniform dough forms that holds its shape when pressed. If the mixture is too dry, add a tiny bit more milk; if too wet, add a teaspoon of extra protein powder or oat flour.
  5. Fold in the mini chocolate chips, if using.
  6. Roll the dough into uniform balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  7. Place the finished balls on a parchment-lined plate or tray.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, use maple syrup instead of honey and ensure your protein powder is plant-based.
  • If you need a gluten-free option, use certified gluten-free rolled oats.
  • Store these protein balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a keto-friendly option, substitute the maple syrup with a granulated or liquid keto sweetener to taste, and use a low-carb protein powder.
