- 1 pound fresh asparagus, tough ends trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Place the trimmed asparagus on the prepared baking sheet.
- Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil.
- Add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the asparagus. Toss everything together with your hands until the spears are evenly coated.
- Spread the asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- Roast for 10 to 15 minutes. The cooking time depends on the thickness of the spears; aim for tender-crisp texture.
- Remove the pan from the oven. Immediately sprinkle with fresh lemon juice and lemon zest.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- For Parmesan Roasted Asparagus variation, sprinkle 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese over the spears during the last 3 minutes of roasting.
- If you prefer softer asparagus, increase the roasting time by 2 to 3 minutes.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
