Cook a tender and moist turkey breast in your slow cooker using simple herbs. Finish under the broiler for crispy skin if desired.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (3-4 lb) boneless turkey breast, skin on
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast completely dry with paper towels. Rub the entire surface with olive oil.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the thyme, rosemary, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Rub this herb mixture evenly over the turkey breast.
  3. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of your slow cooker. Place the seasoned turkey breast on top of the broth.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or until an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit is reached in the thickest part of the meat.
  5. Carefully remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and place it on a baking sheet. Tent loosely with foil and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  6. For crispy skin: Preheat your oven broiler to high. Remove the foil from the turkey. Place the baking sheet under the broiler for 3 to 5 minutes, watching constantly until the skin is browned and crisp.
  7. Slice the turkey breast against the grain and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, place sliced onion and celery beneath the turkey in the slow cooker.
  • If you skip the broiler step, the skin will be soft but the meat will remain very moist.
  • Use the liquid remaining in the slow cooker as a base for a quick gravy.
