Make a grilled salmon fillet at home that tastes like the popular dish from Texas Roadhouse using a sweet and savory glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika to create the glaze.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400 degrees Fahrenheit). Lightly oil the grill grates.
  4. Brush the salmon fillets with olive oil. Place the salmon skin-side down (if using skin-on) on the hot grill.
  5. Grill for 4 minutes without moving the fish.
  6. Flip the salmon carefully. Brush the top side generously with half of the prepared glaze.
  7. Continue grilling for another 4 to 6 minutes, brushing with the remaining glaze halfway through the second side cooking time, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork (internal temperature should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit).
  8. Remove the salmon from the grill. Brush the tops with the melted butter immediately before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra rich flavor, baste the salmon with the melted butter mixture during the last minute of cooking.
  • If you do not have a grill, you can pan-sear the salmon in a skillet over medium heat, adding the glaze during the last 3 minutes of cooking.
  • Serve this salmon with a side of their famous steak fries or a fresh salad.
